The water of the Mürz meanders between stones, washing around them and revealing a play of colors of grey, green, ochre and blue. Light and shadow dance on the surface of the water, while the current draws filigree patterns - a scene that has a special poetry in its random appearance.

Julian Palacz follows the course of the Mürz, from a personally significant point - his family home - to its sources. The river becomes a resonating space in which real and imagined memories interweave. The examination of traces ties in with the artist's earlier works - from the investigation of hidden transportation routes in Handle With Care to the analysis of surveillance structures in public space in his Surveillance Studies. The focus is always on making hidden processes visible and their effect on our perception.

Sound recordings with underwater and ambient microphones and drone footage draw attention to the movements of the water, the shapes of the riverbed and stones, and the fine patterns formed by algae and other natural elements. By always using the same camera perspective, the different patterns of the river are made comparable and visible in their entirety. Vortex analyses visualize the flow lines of the Mürz and
